If its carbed, then i say you have choke problems and your choke is malfunctioning. This could be a function of either: one of your thermosensors not sending the proper signal (i.e. saying the engine is cold when hot and vise-versa), or it could be your choke system itself. Either way you could be running too lean upon cold starts and too rich when warm and your throttle plate could get closed off when warm.

If your car is fuel injected, start off with cleaning these two basic senors.

Thanks for taking the time to respond...my car is Fuel Injection i will attempt at the two tips you mentioned above...but i have to say...when i do a cold start and if it happens to be the day the car decides to run rough, even the cold start warmup will be rough..IMMEDIATLEY when i start up the car , it will idle rough right away...then its downhill from there...on good days, when the cold start idel is smooth..then the driving is smooth..so in other words, i can determine wether the car will run smooth or rough, in the first ten seconds...with this in mind, do you still believe the ?thermosensors and or choke system may be the problem ? what i dont understand is...why does it run PERFECT one day, and completley un-drivable the next ?... i always thought that if something stops working...it stops working, it does not choose which days it works and which days it doesnt..

thanks again
