Well........ being that I'm VERY intune with mustangs, I have not hear of any issues with rear end failures on the mustangs. The only real difference between the rear ends between 1984~2006 is the mouting points that the control arms attach too, and the spring purches. It's been the same basic design the whole time.

Now if his car was making lots of torque and he did a bunch of launches in the car, then it is possible for him to bust a tooth on the pinion or ring gear.
