Friend totalls his 2006 supercharged GT Mustang

His ride has a supercharger and some other misc. bolt on parts. It's a pretty sweet ride for a Ford(well, was) and he only drives it occasionally. Over the summer he installed a supercharger and some other misc. bolt on parts. Well, on Saturday the day was nice so he decided to get it warmed up a bit. Has he was traveling down a nice, rural highway he got on it a little. When he went to go into 3rd gear the rear end locked up causing the car to go out of control. It slid into a decent sized ditch where it caught the front end and flipped over. He was ejected and surprisingly survived. He broke his neck, bruised a lung, broke a few ribs, tore up his right shoulder, and shattered his right leg.

He's not some young punk but a 31 year old Sherriff Deputy. He's been around fast cars and many Mustangs so I am sure he knew what he was doing. I guess after the accident he had found out that Ford has had more and more reports of major problems with the Mustang. Everything he bolted on was from Ford and the SS was only pumping about 8psi so it's not like he was really raping the shit out of the car. The State Police is investigating what really happened. I'm curious as to what Ford will do if they do find it was a mechanical defect.
