Bad bearing?
Hey everyone!
I'm getting what sounds like grinding noises from my 2002 Ranger XLT 4x4. I just bought it with 85k miles on it. Anyway, The noise is most apparent at slow speed, such as coming to a stop or starting out. Noise seems to go away or become unnoticeable at speed. Noise also seems louder/rougher when making a left turn. Someone told me that it could be the 4x4 auto locking hub but I'm of the opinion that it could be bearings. Anyone know of any checks I can do to eliminate one or the other?
And if it does turn out to be either the 4x4 hubs or the bearings anyone have any idea how painful it is to fix?
