the shelf life of gasoline is pretty short. (something like 6 weeks before it starts to turn.) Follow DeleriousZ's advice to start, also pull out a spark plug and smell it. If the gas is bad, it will smell like varnish instead of gasoline. I'd also do a compression check while you have the plugs out.
