Re: 05 3.4L Sputter problem

intermittant probs are a real beotch to track down. Since its been to the dealer on several occasions I'll have to assume that they had it on the diagnostic machine first thing before it got warmed up to check the various engine management sensor readings. The 3.4 as well as the 3.8 have intake issues where they begin to leak coolant, sometimes its visible outside the engine, but other times it can leak into a cylinder. My 3.4 would leak after I turned the engine off, but it was exterior. If you have an interior leak that allows the coolant to enter the cylinder only after you shut the engine down for the night this could explain why you are having issues only first thing each morning. You could have one cylinder partially filling with water over night and when you go to start it in the morning it could be mis-firing or, worst case, attempting to hydraulic lock on the affected cylinder. There is a new and improved gasket to eliminate this problem.
