Re: Student tasered at UCLA library for not having his ID 11-14-06 11:30pm

Well, the first article said they left for a few minutes and came back and he was on his way out, and then they grabbed his arm. While not having his ID wasn't smart, if it was anything like my college computer pods, sometimes it is absolutely impossible to get a computer for hours and maybe he just finished something and was waiting for it to print or something.

Yes he should have left when first warned, but maybe he didn't realize he was missing his ID or maybe he just needed ot finish something up. The fact that he was leaving on his own accord, he shouldn't have been grabbed...that would piss me off too. As well, they kept tasering him and telling him to stand up. Seriously, if they didn't have a problem grabbing his arm when he was standing, why didn't they just grab his arm then and stand him up....I mean the kid was just freaking tasered. Judging by the bystanders, the situation was pretty screwed up.

He shouldn't have resisted, and he should have initially left, but it's not like he was being violent or posing a threat, and I think they could have dealt with the situation a whole lot better. Obviously I wasn't there, but from what I read/saw it seems like the officers were the ones that escalated the situation...not the student. And they could have stopped it earlier...especially after he said he had a medical condition.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
