Calmini Lift Kit Update

The last 2 weeks Ive been having trouble with the control arms, first I couldnt get the fulcrum pins out of the old control arms. The steel sleeves were seized to the pin and we ended up cutting the control arm.

We then cut the sleeves off the pin, which was pretty easy but then I figured out that the new sleeves were too small to slide onto the pin. I had my friends dad machine 20 thou off the pins and now the sleeves fit perfect.

So last night I tried assembling the first control arm. Turns out that the poly bushings are about 3/16" too long and they butt up against the middle part of the fulcrum pin and bind and tear when you try to move the control arm. I ended up trimming a little bit off them and everything else went together pretty well.

Now I just have to change the front shocks and bleed the brakes but I cant believe how big of a pain in the ass these control arms have been right from the start. I probably would have just flipped the ball joints and used the old control arms but my friend cut the first arm open one day when I was at work.

Ill have some before and after pics maybe for tommorow, hopefully its all been worth it!
