Without knowing the brand of DVD player, seeing installation instructions, & a schematic, its kind of hard to figure out what to do with it. I don't really know what "door positive & negative" mean.
I would assume you are putting the display in to REPLACE one of your overhead dome lights - so you will be "sacrificing" that light if you cannot connect the lights in the display? Would it be acceptable to do that?
I would need more information before trying to give you further advice.
