Yes, that is a perfectly normal thing to deal with at any dealership.
It's the reason that people hate buying cars.
The trick is to combat a lie with a lie.
Go to Carpoint.com....look up some other cars in your area that have the same options....find one with a lower price and print it out.
take it to them, and tell them that this place offered the same car with the same options for 3.9% for LESS....Sure it's a lie, but it's a lie that will save you alot of money.
You will get your price and your interest rate. If they say "no"
, then walk out...they will chase you to the parking lot, and you won't have to buy LOJACK or anything else extra.
I did this with my '97 with 39k miles, and got them to add a spoiler, tint, alloy wheels, and still at $500 below original Bluebook value without the extras added. (That's $2000 worth of options for -$500, effectively)
If the man screws you, screw them back.
