Re: 1994 TBI 350 Breather

I don't believe there is an adaptor that bolts to your 2 stud going to a single stud, but I have seen on jegs.com that there is a replacment brackett that replaces the double stud version just for the change to open element filter.
I have the single stud type and have flipped the lid on mine to see if performace would be better, I noticed small gains in performance but my major problem is with the noise when the lid is flipped, it sounds like an old 4v q-jet being opened wide without an air filter at all, It's annoying to me, a bit of all show no go.
I know performance and mpg will suffer from the intake of warmer less dense air being fed from the hot engine conpartment through an open element filter but where I live it stays pretty cool year round and this is not a big factor.
I found that a fair alternative was to modifie the original cold air intake, there is a very restrictive double cone shaped baffle that can be cut out of the hose that feeds the air cleaner for starters.
I'm not a real big fan of aftermarket cold air intakes they are almost as limited as stock air filters, but are better than open element filters.
My choice was to build my own, I found 2 large bore snorkles at a junkyard attached those to my stock air filter housing and ducted those up behind my grill, not all that hard or expensive just took a little time and thought.
the dual snorkles look pretty cool too.
