I have a Uniden CB with a 3ft magnetic antenna on my trunklid. I put the CB and mounting bracket on the passenger side of the center console, partially under the glovebox. I haven't had a problem with passengers hitting it, being that it doesn't shrink the leg room down all that much. Check out this page for a picture of the location:
