I just solved that sputtering problem 3 days ago. I found out that it was my IAC valve locatet behind the intake manifold. $60.00 part and only 2 allen screws to remove it and one plug. Just remember to clean out the area the old one was in so that the new one goes in and out smoothly. You will have to take it for a little 15 drive at least so that it gets a chance to go through its movements. The old part will either be stuck in the out position or it should be hard to move in and out and it will look a bit black with carbon all over.
