I own a 2002 Xterra and when the ac quit cooling I notified and set up an appointment to remedy. They said the high pressure hose was the usual culprit and it would cost from $400 - $600. Sure enough it was the high pressure hose leaking where the metal portion meets the rubber portion of the hose, apparently an inherent design flaw.
The more research I did, the more I found out that this is a common very problem. My question is...if it is so common that it can be diagnosed over the phone, then why isn't Nissan helping to offset the cost of repair? I paid around $24,000 for my X with options, and feel that if Nissan knows that this is a recurring problem...then they should either have a recall to remedy it; or provide some restitution ($) or relief to the consumer. I asked if the hose had been "improved" and was told that they were replacing it with an identical part @ $112.00! Look for another repair in about another 4-5 years or so!
