The unit body is pretty solid, the interior and dash tend to rattle though.
You don't say why you replaced pass side hub. Is that expensive?
Also did you try to rotate the axle when parked? No, they will not turn when on the ground. If you jack it they will rotate with the wheel and hub (on the 01 anyway). The transfer case is where the 4x4 connection is made (on the command-trac).
I have 2 XJs 97 and 01 the hub don't seem to go out. The 97 has 132K miles on it.
