autozone gives me the location of:

UNDER HOOD, CENTER, UPPER ENGINE AREA, DRIVER SIDE OF
ENGINE, BETWEEN ENGINE BLOCK AND INTAKE MANIFOLD,
MOUNTED IN VACUUM HOSE

i looked there, i did find two vacuum tubes i had not yet found, but damned if i can find that pcv valve. the one i purchased has two smaller vacuum tubes off of it, so it should be fairly easy to spot. oh well, i'll keep at it.
