Good work - have you tried putting a strobe on the engine with the special timing wire disconnected. I can't recall exactly what it is called but when you open circuit this wire it will disable the ecm electronic ignition advance. You should then see the timing mark sitting on the tdc pulley wheel mark when you strobe the engine.
