Re: Skyline drivetrain issues

Are good stuff, thanks for your time.

I've got a 1994 series 1, GTS-T M Spec. RB25DET, pushing around 10.5 PSi. Oil in the intercooler is interesting I'll have to check that out. The main thing is it seems to only occur when on the road, with the clutch disengaged I can rev it hard and not hear a thing, but as soon as you're moving it sounds like a fire truck.

The noise was before the dif got replaced. I had the car on a hoist on Saturday with a mate and checked their work, it seems fine, and the dif seems like a brand new one. The tailshaft is fine, we found some wear on the knuckles of the 4WS caster rods, but I doubt that would be doing anything to make the noise, could have something to so with the shaking after 110km/h.

I know how hard is to even offer advice for this sort of thing. I've had the car with 4 different mechanic who all gave me 4 different answers - clutch, gearbox, dif (which I replaced) and turbo. I had all the plumbing for the turbo checked, but it doesn't appear to be the cause of the noise.

On further inpspection under the car there were no classic problems like bad brakes, oil leaks from the gearbox/dif, only the rod I mentioned above seems to have regular problems. It all seems really good, but the noise is getting louder.

I'm about to go for another, 5th mechanic visit, get it on a dyno and see if they can find out anything. I haven't taken it back to where I got the dif' fixed, because I now think they ripped me off. I suppose I should just tell them my issue though, and see what they say.
