"If we are to believe the rumour that the "new" Modena engine will be derived from the new 4.2 litre, normally aspirated Maserati engine then 4.2 is the likely capacity.
If we are to extrapolate the power output based on the current 3.6 engine @ 400bhp then the "new" engine will produce 466bhp. This is the kind of power that the Modena will needed to challenge the Porsche Turbo, if Ferrari are to remain top dog.

This is believable since the new Maranello will be a 6.0 litre engine with output of 530 bhp (based on current 550 output of 485 bhp)or possibly more. So the power gap between the top model and the Modena will be maintained. But what will be the biggest change for the Maranello will be the extensive use of Aluminium in the chassis and body, just like the Modena. That will improve the power-to-weight ratio immensely.

Looks like Ferrari will strive to produce the cars that the customers are waiting for!"
