If the inlet and outlet hoses are not really close to the same temperature, it sounds as if the flow through the heater core is probably restricted. Maybe when the core was flushed, it was flushed backwards and plugged itself up worse.

I'll have to check the manual to make sure there is not a heater control valve hidden in the housing somewhere. I don't think there is.
