hmmm...well, I'm 21 now and started flying during me junior year of highschool, when I was 16. I started out pretty slowly and didn't get my License untill right before I got up here to Purdue. That may have been a mistake, as it cost me more to spread it out like that (over 2 years), but I was paying for a lot of the lessons with my part-time jobs and stuff.

Where do you live right now? Embry-Riddel is a decent school, but I have obvious bias towards Purdue. In all honesty, if you're doing all right in highschool you can probably make it into flight school. I've been surprised at some of the people in my classes...not what I would have expected in arguably the best flight school in the nation. Money could be a problem for many people...this is NOT a cheap major to get into. But the rewards are great. I forget who said "I could get a job, or I could fly for a living. I choose to fly." but it's exactly the truth. Realize that the life can be difficult for a family with you being gone so often...but you get to travel for free, get paid well, and the industry is in desperate need of pilots right now.

Since you've already flown a little, then you know how much fun it can be. I recommend that you not give up on your dream if this is what you really want to do...you may never forgive yourself. At the same time, be sure it IS what you want to do. It's a huge commitment, both financially and in time.
