Well since you liked pounding it so much try pounding it some more the opposite direction while giving it some head........uh......ooops I mean heat.











Ok sorry could not help but make some lame jokes, now onto physics: if you can find something that will apply some fast heat to the "mother" side of the connection it will expand and pop off easily. While you apply the heat try tapping it with a hammer.

An acetylene torch would work very well in this case, if you have anyone that knows how to use one well (not a toy).
