Maintenaince is the main thing, but that is the way with any used car. As long as the previous owner kept up and changed fluids at proper intervals you should't have many problems. Common errors at that milege would be the start of a stretched timing chain, the trans could start going bad (if the car was abused), and issues with the coils/ICM....
But it totally depends on how it was treated before you got it. I would suggest replacing all fluids (oil, trans, power steering, coolant), all filters (trans, oil, air), plugs (AC Delcos Only!), wires (no cheapies), O2 sensor, PCV valve, fuel filter, and you should clean the intake (throttle body especially).
1800 is fair for a car that age and miles....as long as it isn't beat all to hell and has been halfway kept up it should last you a loooooong long time. The GM 3800's will easily last 300k miles if they are taken care of. And it helps that there were gobs of them made so parts aren't really that much of an issue.
