Oil is supposed to be back when you change it. And about losing oil, I dont know if this is normal, but I drove my car for 6,000 miles between my last oil change. And in those 6,000 miles I had to add about 2 quarts of oil to keep it at a decent level. Full synthetic is what I use BTW.
