Hopefully the PM sent involves something a little more scientific than just painting a line on the top of the pulley
There better be a mark cut into it, just highlight that with some whiteout or something. I usually end up using something like my sister's nail polish in some funky color like silver.
Setting timing is an exact science, and not something you want to half ass.
