most turbo's off stock cars have water cooling, (modern engines, ie, last 15+ years).
non-car model specific turbo's often don't have water cooling. But whether the turbo you find/like has the option or not, you don't have to use it.
Its mainly to prevent coking, which is mostly a concern in the long term, ie, 100K miles. I always leave the water cooling out with my systems, but then how much heat saturation the turbo system has to deal with is another large factor...my systems rarely have a problem with it
