It's disspiriting to see the diecast chassis. It does imply a certain emphasis from Tamiya- that diecast semiassembled or fully assembled kits are more profitable than straight plastic. Perhaps it's not surprising, but disappointing none the less. Sure, it will be a lovely kit, but it is a bit overshadowed by the chassis.

On the other hand, they do seem to be making a good go of it in rereleasing older kits. Yes, this can be dismissed in a purely profitmaking light- but I'm glad to see the availibility of these older kits. Tamiya's golden age of 1/24 kits was 10-15 years ago, at a time that I was not heavily building. I'm happy to see that this era will not have entirely bypassed me, and I do at least appreciate this effort for 1/24 car modelers....
