'91 - My brakes are driving me nuts - don't work even after overhaul! Help? :(

Hey guys,

I've been trying to right the brakes on my 1991 for some time now and they're still not working. Some of my related posts:

Replaced master cylinder, overhauled the front lines, hoses and booster are recently new, pads/shoes are fine, all new fluid, and bled each wheel. Did not do anything with the proportioning valves.

I have the same braking system as this fella -- Teves MK IV ABS, and I have the same problem. Brakes are mushy, no power, pump up hard. If I brake hard, I have low pedal, and the car veers somewhat to the left.

Could it be that my brand new master cylinder is bad? It's a Fenco reman purchased from AutoZone. Honestly, I wish I would have never got this thing in the first place. My car originally had a master cylinder with 8" bore (versus some that OE'd with a 6.5" bore). They keep giving me these Fenco remans with a 6.5" bore and a note inside the box that says that due to GM supercession that this 6.5" unit is compatible regardless of what the car had for OEM.

Not only that, but I just found out that the resevoir on this Fenco has a keyed receptacle for the brake wiring connector (fluid level?) that is keyed upside-down. I called Fenco and the guy I talked to said that some of them went out like that and that I'm going to have to swap the unit for one that is correctly keyed!

I dunno -- I'm wondering what you guys think. I wish I would have just got a Cardone (even a reman) in the first place. That was what I had before all of this mess and it worked for 7 years...
