The warm starting problem could be the fuel pressure regulator. It can leak and floods the engine making it hard to start after it sits for a while. Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and start the engine. Turn off the engine and watch the pressure. It will drop a little but should hold pressure. If it drops way off, the regulator could be bad.

As for the battery, anything over 16 is too high. Verify the voltage at the battery with a volt meter. Check to make sure the battery connects are good.
