They're just like any other engine in terms of losing reliabilty once modded. Most of the times when these engines shit the bed its because of bad fuel delivery. Atleast thats what I've been told.

Like any engine they will behave as long as you take care of it...granted they're a tad more likely to explode if seriously mistreated, but as every day cars, they're awesome.
