Re: Laredo Misfortunes
Rough Idle is probably caused by a build up of carbon under and in the throat of the throttle body. Take your finger and wipe under the flaps on the top of the throttle body. They should come out BLACK. Use a carb cleaner and a small toothbrush and clean under and in the throat of the throttle body. Then spray the whole throat. Let sit for a while before firing it up. You will puff white smoke out the tail pipe until the waste burns off. this should solve the idle problem. I had the same on my 1994 GJC Lardeo 8 cylinder engine. Runs great now.
The A/C problem is the one can you shot into the system was not enough. Go buy two more cans. When you have enough freon in the system the clutch will stay engaged. When the can gets cold and seems to stop sending freon in the system get a small pot of warm water and sit the can in it to get it warm. When the can gets cold it will not move freon quickly. A system will usually need at less two and one half cans for a good charge. Also use a temperature device to measure the output from the cooling vents. Close all but the middle ones and read the temp. Should get at least about 40 degrees at an outside temp of in the 70s. Do not turn the can of freon upside down while adding it. You only want to add gas and not liquid into the system on the low side. Low side is the fatter tube. The high side is the small tube. Low side gets cold and the high side gets real hot. Hope this helps.......
