I am kind of dumb at this too but my 92' Storm I had did that and the first time it was a "clip" in the shifter like under the rubber boot I will have to see if I can find out what it was called and the third time it started doing that it was the clutch! If you want more info let me know and I will see if I can find out what that clipthing was called but it might give you a place to start!
