Re: Importing/Obtaining a STATE LEGAL Skyline 33-34GTR?

If you are looking for a state legal car, chances are it will be a kit car or the like. Any car that has been through a legitimate RI will be federally legal as far as DOT/EPA, and thus will be rarer and more expensive. BTW, Motorex is not the only RI that has ever legalized a car. Mine was done thru G&K Automotive.

Cars pop up on Ebay from time to time. I've seen a couple of Motorex cars there in the last month or so, and the price for those hovered around 60-80K. I even saw a 1200HP R33 on Dupont Registry for 130K. That was quite a car BTW.

I have also seen "questionable" cars on sites such as Evolution Imports, and Skyline Imports. My advise to you if you go that route is, never buy a car sight unseen. I've heard of people getting ripped off under that situation, which is a bit foolish IMO.

Another issue I have heard is that insurance companies will not cover claims involving state legal/kit cars. You might want to verify coverage with whatever company you select before commiting to a car.

If you are serious about getting a GTR and have loot to back it up, RB Motoring might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Just found this on Skylines Downunder.. Beautiful, but not cheap at all.. http://www.parkplaceltd.com/pages/fi...e.aspx?id=5600

Good luck
