Good luck on your project. You seem like you know a lot about what you are doing, a SAFC only fools the ECU into changing how much fuel to add/subtract. A megasquirt fuel system is a standalone fuel system that you build yourself. You can adjust your fuel, and you can adjust your ignition timing. I would highly recommend that you research your fuel system a little bit more, because if you are going to run 20+psi I dont think a SAFC is going to cut it.
