Is there anyone out there with a clue to what else I can check before I have to bite the bullet and pay the huge price tag for a Renault Dealer to even look at the car?
I'm gradually going bald with pulling my hair out on this one...

Had roughly the same problems. Found the fault to be a temperature sensor on the left hand side of the cylinder head. This sends a signal to the ECU to richen the fuel mixture almost like an auto choke.
