Re: Mazda engine help!
A Mazda B2200 engine is single overhead cam, 2.2 liters in dispalcement, can be carbed or some are fuel injected. A B2600 engine is actually a Mitsubishi engine installed in Mazda B2600 trucks in 1987 and 1988. They were carbed and a pile of junk. The Mazda B2600i engines from 1989 to 1993 were all fuel injected and 2.6 liters in displacement. They were graet engines. The only gasket known to give trouble in Mazdas is the head gasket. 170,000 miles is nothing on a well maintained B2200. I would get some Gunk engine cleaner and clean the oil off your engine.Dont spray water directly on your distributer. I would bet that your valve cover gasket is leaking and it is very easy to replace and very inexppensive. Change your PCV valve on top of the valve cover, tune the truck up (also very easy) clean the crud out uf your air cleaner and replace the air cleaner element and you should be good to go. BJ
