Hey all, its my first time here! I've got quit a bit of questions to shoot at ya.
1. What are the differences between the 2.2 and the 2.6L?
I ask this because, I have a mazda b2200. But, the water pump is going out on it. I went to an auto place today, and the pump was not the same as the one in my truck. The guy told me I have a 2.6L in there. The water pump in my truck attaches to the fan and is driven by a belt with a big pulley. The one that the guy showed me does not even have an attachment for the fan! 2. Could it be possible that whoever replaced the water pump interchanged it with a 2.6L pump?
3. The truck also has 170,000 miles on it; Even though it really is based on how well the truck has been taken care of, is this a high mileage for a mazda truck?
4. What gaskets seem to go out more than usual on these trucks?
5. I also seem to have alot of oil everywhere... I opened up my air cleaner housing and there was a large build up of oil and dirt chunks. It also appears that there is fresh oil everywhere; on the engine, undercarriage, and ground!
I'm pretty new to engines and maintenance, what should I look for in these trucks?
