The same thing happened to my little brother's 93 prelude si. There were 2 problems it was reving 1 to 2,000 RPM and over heating quickly.
He keeps putting water/coolant but when he turns off the car off it leaks where the hoses go into the heater core. 1 so try to fill up the radiator all the way and let it run for a while and then turn it off and see if theres any leaks. 2 you can also try to change the thermostat. They run about 12$ a piece and a 3 or 4 dollar gasket seperate. Hope this helped kinda atleast.
