Re: Horrible paint problem :-(

OK, how did you wind up with one ounce left? Did you already apply half of this paint on another body?

If you sprayed out 1+ oz of paint already on this body in two heavy coats, that's where you're problem is. You're spraying too thick, too heavy, and too fast. If this is an ounce or so of paint, and it feels smooth to the touch, may mean that the pearl elements in the paint are not laying flat in on the surface, but are remaining suspended in the thick coat of carrier. The carrier dries in a realitively thick layer (but with a level surface), with the pearls still in suspension, and that's what's causing the textured look.

Lately, when I do a body with a Cobra Colors metallic, I use between 1/2 and 1/4 of the bottle in about 8 wet coats. If a bottle is 2.5 oz, I'm using aboutn 1/2 to 1 oz per body. So yes, 1 oz is plenty to do a body- but you really need to properly thin it. With laquers you can reduce the paint waaaay down- past milk, almost to water. The solvants evaporate quickly when spraying, so it doesn't run quite as readily as acrylics or enamels- and as a result, it goes on in a very thin, very even layer.
