My car makes a similar sound, except only when it's idling and has been on for or driven for a while. It seems to be the powersteering, as when I turn the wheel, the sound goes away until I stop moving the wheel. However, there is a gurgling or sloshing sound that intrigue owners have discussed that happens when you're accelerating when the car is cold. This is usually the first sign of some sort of coolant leak on the 3.5 (not exactly sure where, as this is what I've read on the forum).
