Ford has a major problem with stealing other companies designs and modifying them so they can't get hit with law suits..I don't recall the first models where this happened but I can take you back as far as the protege original and the tempo or whatever it was. Ford is a major leech in the automotive industry. One of the things they did to fix their motors ( since so many died lol ) is they purchased prints from Mazda to design 'Ford' vehicles with Mazda blocks since Mazda is hard up abuot keeping engines running tip top performance ( Like Honda ) for as long as possible. I've got a 1993 MX-3 v-6 with over 200,000 miles on it and it still runs brand new. Original everything basically minus water pump, timing belt , you know the etc tune up things. But yeah , Ford is a theif.
