Hello everyone. I found this forum while doing some research on the DTC my car was putting out. Did a little reading and thought I fixed the problem , but the answer is no and still having issues. So, I joined and figured I would ask some questions.
The car was getting the DTC code of p1744. TCC solenoid stuck in off position. Well I don't think it was stuck in the off position, but it sure seemed stuck. While in drive and trying to stop the car it would lurch forward and continue to try to role, and stall from time to time. So I parked the car and got the solenoid to change it. I spent an entire Sunday with my brother in law changing this damn solenoid that happened to be on the SIDE of the tranny with absolutely NO ROOM to work. This was after taking off the bottom pan thinking it was going to be there. After I took the bottom pan down however I noticed a bunch of metal had built up around the magnet. Much more then the time I changed it before. So I am afraid there is more going on than the solenoid. After changing the solenoid and putting the car back together the car seemed to test drive fine. I drove it to work that night because I had to go up there for something and then stopped by Wal-Mart to get more AT fluid, I didn't buy enough when I bought the tranny filter, and she seemed to drive fine. Seemed fine at the red lights and when I came to a stop. I did get the same DTC code of P1744 on the way home, but I cleared it out and chalked it up to having low fluid. It was shifting, but to slipped occasionally I figured to low fluid levels. I filled it with the rest of the AT fluid I got from wally world, by this time it was midnight, and drove the car home. I had planned to take the car to work again the next night, but when I got to the first red light and stopped the car was lurching badly again. It was not as bad as before I changed the solenoid, but still bad enough I didn't want to drive it to work. It seemed to shift through the gears OK, but didn't like to remain stopped. I am assuming there is a problem here that is way over my head, like a torque converter/tranny rebuild and I am going to have to go to a tranny shop before I sell this thing. I like the 99 ram I just got better

. Thanks for any and all help and advice.
I almost forgot. Ita a 98 Sable with OHV, and the AX4N tranny.
