I hope someone can answer this for you, Dreamstar. I have the same problem. I can't get air to switch from the floor/defrost to the instrument panel vents.

Where are the vacuum pods located? I want to check them to see if they are stuck.

Also, does anyone know the correct AC pressure? ('95 Sonoma 2WD) I want to make sure I am filling the system to the right pressure, so the compressor runs. I think it is now, but I want to make sure. I checked this morning and it was really low. I charged it to the "safe" level on the guage, and the air got a little colder. I think it could use some more refrigerant, though.

BTW: My heater works like a champ, if that helps anyone with an answer. However, May in Florida is not good heater weather.
