Tire noise
I have been thinking that my wheel bearings are worn (tough to believe since I only have 40K miles on the car), but have recently been checking out tire reviews of the tires that came with the car (Falken ZE-502's) and everyone says the make a loud whoo whoo sound at speeds below 40 and still noise at faster speeds. This is the EXACT same problem i'm having. So to rule out the tires, or rule out the wheel bearings, I need to try some different tires. I don't know anyone with a taurus or Sable I could swap wheels with temporarily. My inlaws however just bought a '05 Chevy Impala with the same tire size as my sable. My question is, anyone know if I can just put their steel wheels on my sable and if they will have enough clearance or offset? My sable is an '01 with 215x60R16s, the Impala has 225x60R16's. The width shouldn't matter, since newer tauruses and sables had this wider tire on them.
The inlaws are getting new tires cause they don't like the goodyears on the car, so I could get a nearly new set (they bought from dealer who had just put new tires on it) for free!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!
