The two probably are not related, just coincidental. Try the high beams and see if both lights work on high. If so, pull the bulb and inspect the filaments. If one is obviously broken, then it was probably just the bulb's time. Replace it and you should be fine.
Is there another reason you suspect your rewiring is related to the headlight problem?
