the winch is unwound near bumper there is a hole the car comes with a tool but if it's to tight get long 3/8 extention and ratchet turn conterclockwise winch may break it is easy to chage too 4 bolts when tire is removed next time don't tighten up so hard just till it touches most people put bicikle locks on too so spare can't be stolen if you put one on buy a good master lock with rubber cover so road dirt dosn't get in
