I have an early edition of Haynes 1026. On page 2B-1 shows all you need. Be sure you understand how the cylinders are numbered ... there is a diagram for that. The distributer cap is also shown ... with corresponding plug-cable order.

After you hook up the cables-to-plugs in shown order, turn the crankshaft 'til cyl #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke ... ie, note the camshaft location. Now keep lifting and lowering the distributor, and twisting the rotor ... reingaging the camshaft gear in different locations, until you have the rotor pointing at the cap electrode for cyl #1.

PS: Since you haven't disturbed the camshaft-to-crankshaft relationship, turn the crankshaft to TDC. Is the rotor pointing toward the #1 cyl cap electrode? If yes, good. If not, rotate the crankshaft one full circle.
