Actually without pulling the bulb you can prevent setting codes by getting an airbag simulator. It is a tool that just plugs in where the airbag would that techs use to make sure everything is working properly before actually putting the airbag in so it doesn't blow up in their face as soon as they reconnect the battery. You could just leave that tool plugged in all the time.
By the way, that plastic thing with the wire coming off is called a clockspring, just thought you might like to know (sorry if I sound like a know-it-all, I really don't mean to).
