The particular Donkervoort that turned the low 7 minute time was NOT stock or street legal.

That said, no exotic will ever be able to match the price/performance ratio of a purpose built race car. You are paying for more than just performance with an exotic, it has to be road legal, and how the car will behave for the use of its owners also plays a huge role. If Ferrari decided to make a car that ran only on race fuel, had no idle circuit, got 5mpg, needed an external starter and required the owner to bring it in for a scheduled engine freshening just to keep it alive, it wouldn't serve much purpose beyond sitting around in collectors museums somewhere. The car has to serve the purpose of it's target market, whereas a racecar has to do nothing more than go fast. Fortunately, companies will occasionally turn out a model like the FXX which can be more narrowly focused toward track performance, but most cars in the lineup will have to have some degree of conformity to be good sellers.
