Hello all, I am new to the board and I am glad I found it.
Here is a small intro, my name is Rob and I am the new owner of an '02 Impala LS (loaded to the nuts including Sports Appearance Pkg

), it has 90km (I am in Canada, so approx 55mi for you 'mericans

).
Well, I just picked it up from the dealer yesterday and everything went well on the hour drive home. Later that night I go to pull it in the driveway and I see the "Traction Control Service" alert come on, and the "Trac off" and ABS lights stay on. I assume that since there is a problem detected in the TC system that it shuts it down automatically (and not allowing me to turn it on)?
My question is this:
Is there a possibility that the codes for the TC were tripped when the car was put the the Emissions Test (E-test)? As the garages have to put the front tires onto the rollers, would the system confuse that for "spin" and trigger an alert in the system?? I am not sure if this is a possible explanation, but it just seems to me that it may be.
Also, would/could the ABS light be directly linked to this??
A little background - Last night the lights/messages came on etc. This morning, they didnt come on at all on my way to work (45 min drive or so). But at lunch they came on again. In the ride in this morning (while the TC was working) I was able to shut it off and on, but when the service code is tripped I am unable to turn the system on.
Everytime the TC has failed the ABS light has stayed on, but when the TC was working the ABS light was off (leading me to believe that the problem is related).
If its not likely to be the e-test as the culprit, please provide any ideas as to what you might think the problem is?
Wheel bearing??
Thanks in advance,
Rob
